Ziggy Marley at the Hollywood Bowl was the kick start to my summer concert extravaganza. If you’ve ever been to the Bowl, you know what an EPIC venue it is. All outdoors, the sunset, the breeze. You catch my drift. It is hands down one of the best places to see a show in the world. If you haven’t been, go.
As we entered the Bowl, we were greeted by the overly pungent smell of da’ ganja. But don’t fret readers, it’s LA so as they’d say, “No worries, dude. It’s totally chill!” The Bowl seems to be quite lax on the whole smoking weed thing. The security guards are practically lighting up themselves. Good thing my broseph and I came prepared and rolled a couple blunts in the car on the way there. You know, just so we could be like real, authentic Rastafarians.
Helpful Tip: When you do go to the Bowl, make sure you get there when it opens. Bring a picnic and haul ass to the “secret spot” (which is now, not so secret). This hideaway is on the second level to the far right, past the bar, and it is the best spot for your picnic in the entire place. There’s only a couple tables surrounded by nature and shit. You’ll totally feel like you’ve discovered one of the few hidden gems of Los Angeles. (Even though I actually told you about the secret spot, still take the moment to revel in the fact that YOU are eating in the best spot while all those other losers are sitting on the grass by the entrance…you’re welcome.)
Another great fun fact about the Bowl is you can BYOB! Yep, this is really true. So bottom’s up! For our meal, we brought some Pinot Grigio, Red Stripe (keeping with the theme), creole shrimp and Po’Boy Sandwiches to eat. Marinated olives and a peach salad topped off the meal. For dessert, homemade chocolate cookies with white chocolate chips. Freaking AH-MAZING!
Here’s the Peach Salad recipe, Do yourself a favor and make it!
- Fresh, ripe peaches
- Red Onion
- Basil
- Mint
- Olive Oil
- Lemon
- Salt and Pepper
Combine all ingredients together, drizzle with Olive Oil
My brother and me, we’re just having one of those funky Reggae parties, Jah!
